Bike Check – Victoria’s Scott Contessa Addict 15
I tend to be a “Type 2 fun” kind of rider, so when it comes to gravel, I’m all about pushing the boundaries—whether it’s crushing an overnight bike-packing route in a single day (like the 10 Lakes route near Powell River – shoutout to Bikepacking.com for that one!) or navigating stretches of rougher terrain that I somehow always find myself on. I also race in the Cross On the Rocks Cyclocross series, and, for me, the rougher and muddier, the better—it’s what keeps me on my toes alongside the amazing up-and-coming youth in the sport.
The Scott Addict’s purple colour, build, and lightweight frame attracted me. It further solidified my choice when I learned that another NOBL Staffer (someone I trust for bike-buying advice) had purchased the same bike just weeks earlier. I knew I was on the right track and not only being influenced by that shiny purple frame!

Wheelset
I’m running the HR35 DT240 EXP wheelset. I picked the HR35 for its wider profile, which works perfectly with my 45c tires and lower-pressure setup and is a sweet-spot for my mix of gravel and cyclocross riding. The DT240 was an easy choice because of its simplicity and reliability. Usually, I’d stick with the quieter 36t ratchet, but I went for the 54t upgrade this time. With regular servicing, I can dial in the sound just how I like it. I’ve run the D-lights on all of my NOBL Wheels – from mountain to gravel – which have always been great for my weight and riding style

Frame Bag
Bag: HMPL Mini Frame Bag
I have been running an HMPL Mini Frame Bag in EcoPak EPX-200. It fits plenty of snacks, a OneUp pump, and a cell phone—everything you need for a ride. Plus, HMPL is based in Vancouver, and I love knowing that I’m supporting local creatives in sporting a bag that still looks sharp after countless adventures.
