The four of us have travelled extensively, but we’ve never been to a place like Iceland. Not to be ruined by copious amounts of research and reviews – Iceland is best to be discovered.

Interesting Facts
Deforestation
Less than 2% of Iceland is forested. Glacial activity and a historically harsh climate didn’t help, but largely the Vikings are blamed for cutting down a vast amount of trees and not replacing them. The country is slowly rebuilding their forests by planting millions of trees each year.
Geothermal
There is a rift in continental plates which allows for a massive amount of geothermal energy to be extracted. Utilities are very inexpensive, and you get a separate hot water service to your house. Hot water is used to heat 90% of homes and they even use it to heat paved roads and parking lots!
Epic drive
The ring road which takes you around the circumference of the island is 1,332 km (828 miles) long. While the speed limit is generally 90km/h or 56mph, expect the journey to take closer to 18 hours of driving due to some single lane sections. Iceland is beautiful, take your time!
AKUREYRI
POV footage from one run in Akureyri! This is one of Icelands largest cities (still less than 20,000 people) and is built along a beautiful Fjord in the North.
